Day 10

Prompt:

Day 10: Sleepless in Seattle: 1993: A recently widowed man’s son calls a radio talk-show in an attempt to find his father a partner.

In Sleepless in Seattle Tom Hank’s character remembers how his late wife could peel an apple in one continuous long peel. Using typical Rom Com logic we know Meg Ryan is perfect for him when we see her peeling apples the same way.

Story: Do you have a memory of listening to the radio?

Technique: (No scrap left behind) Make a layout utilizing your scraps, or make a layout utilizing a full piece of patterned paper or cardstock, challenge yourself to leave no scrap unused!

I just love Sleepless in Seattle! It’s funny.  I know that the radio program that brings Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan together is featured prominently in the movie, but I never really thought about it being a radio program.  I said to my husband.  I’ve got no stories about the radio.  He was like, “Yes you do.  Think about it.”  So I thought about it.  I thought about the way WLBS shaped my love of 80’s music.  Then I thought about This American Life; a radio show that I never listen to on the radio anymore.  11:00 a.m. every Saturday morning it comes on KQED.  I used to make sure I was in my car so that I could listen, as KQED doesn’t come in well in the house.  I found this great logo with Ira Glass, and ran with it.  I also went through my scraps and found these two papers, used them, and ran with the red, white, and blue theme.
